1994
Since the founding of O’Connor Utilities (“OCU”) by Tim and Tom O’Connor in 1994, we have been passionate about what we do. Over nearly three decades, under Tim and Tom’s direction, OCU grew to become one of the UK’s leading utility service providers.
2002
The purchase of Instalcom in Borehamwood gave us the opportunity to significantly expand our offering across the UK by giving the business operating capability and presence in the south of the country.
2014
Reflecting the substantial organic growth, OCU Group was formed as a new holding company and we continued to grow.
2015
Establishing OCU HDD enabled us to grow our horizontal directional drilling and trenchless capabilities, allowing OCU Group to widen its service delivery.
2015
The establishment of OCU Plant and Transport offered us the opportunity to maximise our buying power and increase cost efficiencies to improve our competitive edge.
2018
Our ‘Brabus’ work management system allows us to receive, plan and manage our work tasks more efficiently, manage our streetworks and feed real-time feedback to our clients in a paperless manner.
2019
With a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles strong, OCU Group was able to leverage its buying power and respond more quickly to reactive contractual demands.

The strength in depth of over 1,500 people and the variety of skills, experience, disciplines and specialism in our team and supply partners sets us aside of our competition.
2022
In a transformational year for the Group, we transition from the O’Connor family ownership and become a portfolio company of one of Europe’s leading private equity houses in the Utility Industries deal of the year.
2023
Ensuring that we are in place to maximise our growth through targeted acquisitions and increased market share in key sectors, whilst making advances in the field of energy transition and low carbon technology.
