OCU Services were contracted to install and commission 175kW EV ultra-fast chargers on the Starbucks forecourt at Bluebell Way, Preston. The scope incorporated elements of network connection and private electrical works. A 1 MVA grid connection was acquired from the host DNO (ENWL) and an appropriately sized unit substation c/w LV metering was designed, procured, installed and commissioned by OCU. This asset was subsequently (post energisation) adopted by the host DNO and an IDNO.
The private LV network from the previously installed substation and distributed the load through a bespoke LV section board before terminating at ABB Inverters and finally the charging points themselves. OCU managed and carried out all elements of electrical and civil works associated with the scheme. The chargers selected can be altered to charge at 350kW per unit which gives this site flexibility for the future when demand increases.
