Environmental, Social & Governance

In an industry that not only interacts with the general public but also supplies it 24/7, 365 days a year, our environmental, social and governance values influence everything we do.

Environmental

As an ISO 14001 accredited business, we have built our responsibility to the environment around us into our work structure. We work with clients and suppliers to source materials sustainably, along with innovating solutions to reduce carbon emissions, ensuring that we can meet the needs of the present without compromising future generations. As part of our journey to help reduce our environmental impact we have partnered with CID to look at major elements of our plastic use, within traffic management and the PPE for our employees.

To reduce the amount of plastic we would be sending to landfill, our plastic traffic management barriers are recycled at many of our sites. This recycled plastic is used to make new traffic management products, keeping the plastic within our industry. In addition, we are also working towards a similar arrangement with our PPE.

We reuse or recycle over 99% of the material that we use and are playing a key part in the transition of the UK economy to a Zero Carbon future.

Social

We believe that successful businesses can and should be good corporate citizens, making a positive contribution to those they interact with.

As a major provider working all over the UK, we take our duty to serve local communities very seriously. We are committed to delivering our works and services in a professional, efficient and safe manner, minimising any negative impact to local residents. We engage and work with the communities we work in to ensure that we leave a lasting positive legacy. We support charities and community organisations throughout the year, including Cash for Kids, local Foodbanks and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We are a responsible employer and have recently rolled out a series of employee benefits in our People First initiative. Our management processes have been accredited to ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards, reflecting our commitment to the ongoing wellbeing of every member of our team. We continue to invest significantly in the training of our employees, and constantly foster a positive working culture that encourages everyone to look out for the safety of one another.

Governance

Oversight of our business is provided through a board of Directors that meets on a monthly basis. The Board is chaired by an independent Chairman, David Taylor-Smith, supported by Directors appointed by our shareholder, Triton Partners.

In addition we operate two board sub-committees for Audit and Risk and Remuneration that meet regularly throughout the year to ensure risks are appropriately managed and remuneration is fair.

The Group Executive Committee (ExComm) also meets monthly with a focus on operational delivery, ensuring our resources and capabilities are appropriate to provide an exceptional service delivery for our client base. We also have a shadow ExComm providing the next tier of management with the opportunity to engage in the future direction of the business and become increasingly comfortable in operating at a Director level.

Once a quarter, the wider management team meet to review Group performance and discuss recent and upcoming developments.
