OCU win the Pipeline Industries Guild (PIG) ‘Utility Pipeline Project Award’!

We were in attendance at The Pipeline Industries Guild annual awards held last night, and are delighted to announce that we won the ‘Utility Pipeline Project Award’. These annual awards celebrate key players in the industry, within the categories of Subsea, Land Based and Utility pipelines; looking at the technology used, and the project management employed.

The Utility Pipeline Project Award identified the project delivered by OCU Group, working collaboratively with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW), to replace the River Dee Tunnel Mains through the design and installation of a new water supply using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) techniques.

Ross Henderson, OCU HDD Design Manager, collated the award submission and collected the award on behalf of OCU at the event held at The Grosvenor Hotel in London. The award not only recognised the importance of this project and how it was designed and delivered, but also the hard work delivered by everyone involved, including Mike Rogers (OCU Operations Manager), Mike Gibbons, (OCU Site Manager), Keith Burghall (OCU Project Manager) and Darren Coleman (OCU Senior Rig Supervisor) together with the OCU HDD site team. All of the above personnel worked closely with DCWW (especially Arwyn Jones and Steve Jones) and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of the project.

We are proud of the continued hard work shown by our colleagues at OCU, with this award further highlighting the importance of early contractor involvement and strong partnership working.
